Teeth Whitening

What is more beautiful than a smile with bright white teeth? Over the years, our teeth unfortunately lose their whiteness and become more and more yellowish or slightly greyish. Nowadays, you can fortunately follow a professional whitening treatment from the comfort of your own home or at your dentist’s office.

Of course, there are treatments sold in pharmacies such as whitening toothpastes or strips to be applied on our teeth. However, their effectiveness is limited to reducing external and superficial stains. A treatment done by a health professional whitens the tooth’s external stains as well as its internal colour.

Ageing, use of tobacco, consumption of red wine, coffee and/or tea are reasons for our teeth yellowing. Stains caused by medications, a natural colour of the greyish tooth, consumption of coloured foods can affect the expected result.

A dental exam and a good professional cleaning are required before a whitening treatment. After the exam, your dentist will be able to tell you if a whitening treatment is recommended or sufficient to achieve the smile you want.

Blanchiment

At the Centre dentaire Patricia Skaf, we decided on the at-home treatment using whitening trays. These trays are made after taking an imprint of your mouth with the intention of creating a mold fitted to your teeth. Flexible, thin and stable, these trays are not at all cumbersome.

Afterwards, at home, you must apply the whitening gel in your trays and wear them for a period which varies depending on the treatment you chose or which has been suggested to you by your hygienist.

You have two options: two 30-minute applications per day or at night during your sleep. In both cases, the complete treatment will last 10 to 14 days.

Nothing is worth more than a professional whitening to maintain a healthy smile!
